The M2483H and M2485H, with 2-megabyte buffers, can attain a continuous stream of data input/output that offers a sustained data transfer rate of 3.0 megabytes per second and a burst rate of 4.0 megabytes per second in the synchronous mode.
These cartridge tape drives are supported by Fujitsu’s enhanced data recording capability (EDRC), the data recording method compatible with IBM’s improved data recording capability (IDRC). Fujitsu’s advanced LSI technology has resulted in a streamlined design and simplified tape path, contributing to the high reliability of these drives. In fact, the mean time between failures (MTBF) rating of these drives is more than 30,000 hours, among the highest in its class.
Small Size for Easy Installation
The rackmount M2483H tape drives have an embedded SCSI-2 interface controller, reducing the subsystem’s size to 127 mm high, 217 mm wide, and 380 mm deep (5 inches high, 8.5 inches wide, and 14.9 inches deep), significantly smaller than most of its counterparts. The M2483′s 8-inch form factor allows easy, space-saving integration into industry-standard 19-inch racks.
The desktop M2485H tape drives are completely self-contained and have a small footprint of only 222 mm x 650 mm (8.7 inches x 25.6 inches) with external automatic cartridge loader, and is well suited for a convenient desktop configuration.
M2483H tape drives and M2485H tape drives support both five and ten-cartridge magazines.
