IBM 3590 E1A/E11 Tape Drives

Model 3590 E1AIBM 3590 model E1A tape drive

The 3590E model E1A is designed for use in automated tape libraries such as the IBM 3494 Automated Tape Library.

IBM’s 3590 E1A model is an example of why IBM continues to lead the pack when it comes to storage solutions. Along with reliability and durability, the E1A brings diversity in that its controllers can be configured for stand-alone frames, racks, or automated library solutions. The IBM 3590 E1A can also be used with a SCSI host interface or Fiber Channel interface of selected IBM and non-IBM midrange and open systems as well as with ESCON channels on S/390 systems through a Magstar 3590 controller. These are just a few of the features that comprise the 3590 E1A model of IBM tape drive. Listed below are some of the benefits of this model as well as a complete specs list. At CPUInc, we have the IBM 3590 E1A tape drive system in stock and at a price you can afford. Contact us today to speak with one of our representatives.

Benefits Include:

  • High performance tape drives for automated tape libraries.
  • Designed for use in the 3494 Tape Library, Virtual Tape Server and other automated tape libraries.
  • Supports up to 60 GB per cartridge and 14 MB/second data rate uncompressed.

Model 3590 E11
IBM 3590 model E11 tape drive
The 3590E model E11 is a rack-mounted tape drive with an automatic cartridge facility (ACF). The 10 cartridge ACF allows the drives to be used as a mini-library with access up to 600 GB (with 3:1 compression). The E11 can be easily converted to an E1A for use in a fully automated library system.

The 3590 tape drive series is like other IBM tape drive formats like the 3480 and 3592 in that they have half inch tape within a 4 x 5 x 1 inch tape cartridge on a single reel with an embedded reel inside the tape drive. In addition to the qualities stated below, the 3590 E11 tape drive series is known for its speed and reliability. They are durable and can be purchased and maintained at lower costs than many other series of tape drives. The 3590 also offers the added value of transferability. Data stored on one tape can be read by another drive even if the drives were made by a different manufacturer. Computer Peripherals Unlimited is happy to offer our customers the reliable IBM 3590 E11 tape drive as well as our guarantee of satisfaction with our lifetime tech support on all of our systems.
